I did not just learn about the knowledge but the life examples of the professors and everyone in ABTS. Your examples challenged us to go to the mission field by faith. (Hong Kong Student)
The program brought a renewed exuberance and passion to me and the ministry where God has called me. (Philippines, '05 Grad)
Along my studies I have little by little understood that theology belongs to street and marketplaces and should belong to our every day lives so that real transformations by the Word of God occur. (Thailand, '05 Grad)
The Asia Baptist Theological Seminary provides theologically conservative graduate education in Asia to Bible school professors, pastors, missionaries and local church leaders. It is approved by the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges in the US as a degree-granting department of Cornerstone University, Grand Rapids, Michigan. The school has been in existence since 1982.
The ABTS headquarters recently moved to Chiang Mai, Thailand from Singapore, where we had been for 14 years. The smooth operation of the headquarters in Singapore was greatly enhanced by a local group of loyal Sponsors; we trust the same will be true of our Board of Sponsors in Thailand. We currently have a Board of six faithful and committed Christians who have graciously accepted several important responsibilities:
1. Facilitate the presence of the school by being a liaison between the organization and the local government. The Sponsors will attend the Annual General Meeting in April where they will deal with all business issues related to our continued compliance with local laws and regulations.
2. Provide counsel in the development of the school as it seeks to improve its ability to meet the educational needs of church leaders throughout Southeast Asia.
3. Promote the program in the community through:
a. Regular prayer for the professors, staff and students.
b. Attendance at carefully scheduled meetings to care for the administrative needs of the program.
c. Financial support through personal giving and by sharing ABTS needs with churches and other contacts.
4. Encourage the ABTS staff as they fit into the local community.
5. Participate in occasional events to promote the school (i.e. graduation).
6. Help to identify additional sponsors.
Would you like to be part of this vital, world-changing ministry? We currently have six Sponsors in Thailand. If you would be interested in serving as an ABTS Sponsor in Thailand, or know of someone who may be interested in doing so, please contact us at abts@abtscu.org.
