What drives me to study is the hunger for learning. I know that someday God would bring me back to the class room to train future pastors and Christian workers. (Philippine Grad)

Asia has a plethora of religions and invites a tendency to blend some of the old practices . . . That's why we insist that students be able to discern what is biblical, what is unbiblical; what is truth, what is untruth; and not simply accept everything that is presented to them. (Dr. Nienhuis)

Every time I take a new course in this program, my spiritual life is refreshed. My desire to study God's Word is greatly promoted. My prayer life is deepened. I always thank God for sending me to this program. (Myanmar Grad '05)

God at work in Papua New Guinea

For several years the ABWE missionaries in Papua New Guinea had been looking for a graduate education program to continue the study of the graduates of their local Bible school.  By 2005 many difficulties had been overcome and the first seminar was offered in this country.  The courses are offered at the premises of the Goroka Bible College in Goroka, Papua New Guinea, a ministry of The Association of Baptists for World Evangelism (ABWE).

Due to the rural nature of this site there are a limited number of students who are available to participate in ABTS classes.  This led the program to use a cohort system so that all the students are taking the same courses at the same time.  The high cost of air transport to Papua New Guinea also makes the cohort system a good solution here.  This allows students to get together before the professor comes, obtain the textbooks and begin to work on the material to be presented so that they are better prepared for the classroom experience.

For the first cohort there are 16 students studying.

Offer praise to God for what He has done and is doing in Papua New Guinea.  Ask God to continue to strengthen His church.
