FORMAT

All ABTS programs are part-time and non-residential. This flexible format allows you to remain in your current location and ministry setting while pursuing a theological master’s degree. Students can fulfill their degree requirements through a combination of in-person, online, and extension courses. ABTS operates on a quarter system, offering 12-week long courses four times per year.

Course Formats

In-Person

Hybrid:
In-person hybrid courses consist of four or five weeks of online instruction, 20 hours of face-to-face instruction, and a period of time for the completion of assignments. Most courses at ABTS are offered in hybrid format.

Traditional:
In-person traditional courses consist of 40 hours of face-to-face instruction and approximately 2 months for the completion of assignments.

Online

Online courses consist of a combination of synchronous and asynchronous components, including videos, discussion forums, assignments, readings, and live conference calls. Online courses do not include a period of in-person instruction.

Extension

Extension courses consist of textbooks, recorded lectures, and various other materials offered in an online format to guide students in their course of study. These courses are taken independently but involve regular interaction with an ABTS professor.

Students may register for an extension course at any time that is convenient for them.
