
Scott Carroll
Biblical Archaeology and History
Scott Carroll, PhD specializes in ancient history and languages, manuscript studies, and the history of the biblical tradition. He has an MA from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and a PhD from Miami University (OH). His doctoral mentor was the eminent ancient and biblical historian and linguist Ed Yamauchi. Scott has taught at universities and seminaries for several decades, beginning at Gordon College and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He taught both ancient and early and medieval church history and ancient languages. He was awarded the most outstanding faculty person three times at two different institutions.
He co-directed an excavation of the earliest monastery in the world in the Egyptian Sahara. He has made many extremely important discoveries of ancient classical and biblical writings throughout his 4-decade long career. He has led groups to Greece over the past 35 years and has been involved with several documentaries. Scott has served on an advisory board of five scholars for a Hollywood movie on the Bible slated to premier in 2026. He is presently involved with a 30-episode documentary/drama TV series called Mel Gibson presents the House of David as a specialist on the ancient world of the Bible appearing on camera and advising the script.
